Some background on Italian tiles: 261 factories, more than 31000 people, an annual production reaching 640 million m2, exports totalling 70% of total sales: these are the figures which prove Italy's worldwide leadership in the ceramic tile industry.
Italy's production of ceramic tiles currently represents nearly 20% of worldwide production and 43% of the European Union's. "Made in Italy" tiles are sold around the world, and are synonymous with taste, style and quality everywhere.

To answer this you need:
- to know the area to tile;
- determine the technique and tile layout:
- laying with narrow joint, i.e. the tiles laid close to each other (in France it is forbidden   to lay with no joint);
- joints with a few millimetres between the tiles;
- tiles laid parallel, the joints can be continuous or staggered;
- tiles laid diagonally.

It is important to note that a delivery of top quality tiles may at times have some defective tiles (official standards allow a presence of 5% defective tiles);
Thus it is a good idea to order an average of 10% more tiles than the quantity you need to lay. If you place a second order there may be a difference in shades, size and availability.

Use specific cleaners found on the market. Avoid the use of particularly powerful and aggressive acid cleaners such as those used for cleaning and descaling toilettes: While they will not ruin the tiles, the acids may damage the joints made with cement based mortars (which happens in most cases).

A well-laid tiling is really "good" when it is:
- regular and uniform (without hollow spots and bumps)
- securely fixed (the tiles do not come unglued)
- solid (adapted to its use)
- safe (for example, non-slip when this is necessary)

This needs to be done perfectly and thus performed by a professional. Warning: If there are obvious defects, the tiler needs to indicate this BEFORE laying.

It is always preferable to exchange the tiles before laying and to use the supplier's guarantee rather than lay the tiles, which would mean: demolition of the tiles, transport of the rubbish to the dumps and preparation of a new surface. The timeframe and additional costs are much higher.

STONEWARE The almost totally vitrified product is impermeable thus frost-proof and suitable for indoors and outdoors heavy traffic

SINGLE-FIRED White paste: recommended for the interior of a private home SINGLE-FIRED Red paste: recommended for bedrooms, for example little traffic.
The earthenware is created in red or white paste which does not change any of the tile quality. If you have questions about laying, tile selection or various regulations don't hesitate to ask we'll answer you by e-mail.
